Għargħur mayor taking decisions behind councillors’ backs, PN says

Nationalist Party local councillors Helen Gauci and Marilena Galea said they are dissociating themselves from decisions which Għargħur Mayor Francesca Attard appears to be taking behind the backs of local councillors and without discussing them during local council meetings.

A clear example is what happened in recent days, when Francesca Attard removed an RSSL worker assigned to the Għargħur Local Council, who was subsequently sent back to a government department, a PN statement said Thursday.

Among his duties, this worker was primarily responsible for carrying out maintenance works on the village's roads. He will no longer be carrying out this work, to the detriment of the locality and its residents.

This is just one such case, despite mayor Francesca Attard having always sought to give the impression that she supports transparency and good governance within the local council, the statement said.

The PN councillors in Għargħur condemned this type of conduct by the Mayor and will continue working to ensure that Għargħur once again has the local council its residents deserve.
