Following his sudden death, friends and relatives took to social media to pay tribute to the chef, who was engaged to be married.

One friend described him as a "very happy and friendly human being" who made everyone feel comfortable in his presence.

"He was a loyal friend, the best son ever, and a chef who delighted thousands of people through his work," the friend wrote.

Meanwhile, friends have launched an online fundraising campaign to help his fiancée and family meet the unexpected expenses arising from his death.

The crowdfunding page aims to cover the costs of either repatriating his body to Colombia or arranging his cremation in Malta, depending on the family's final decision.

The estimated expenses exceed €10,000 and include funeral services, documentation, transportation and other related costs. Donations have already surpassed the original fundraising target.

In an update to contributors, the campaign organiser said Osorio Romero's mother and brother were travelling to Malta to join his fiancée and discuss the arrangements.

"Camilo's mother and brother are arriving in Malta today after almost a full day of travelling. Once the family is together, they will discuss the funeral arrangements and confirm the final costs," the update read.

The organiser thanked everyone who had contributed to the campaign, expressing gratitude for the support shown to the family during a difficult time.
