Two elderly women sustained injuries in a traffic accident that occurred on Żebbuġ Road in Għasri, the police said Thursday.

The accident took place at around 11am, involving a Mazda Demio driven by a 72-year-old resident of Żebbuġ, which collided with a wall and an electricity pole. A 71-year-old woman was also a passenger in the vehicle.

Members of the Civil Protection Department were called to the scene to assist. Both women received medical attention from a medical team and were transported to the Gozo General Hospital by ambulance.

Later, the 71-year-old woman was certified as having sustained grievous injuries, while the driver was certified as having suffered slight injuries.

Police investigations into the incident are ongoing.
