60 Second Interview - Bryan Muscat

Bryan Muscat’s first leading role was at the age of five in Marcellino Pane e Vino. Years later he attended St Mary's Institute for Performing Arts in London where he graduated in 1987. Back in Malta he took part in several productions and started directing in 1997.

Together with his wife Louise he co-founded Lemonhead Productions and till now they have staged nine theatrical productions including Animal Farm, Gurija Rrabjata, Van Gogh, 3 Gimghat and Wahedna. Bryan loves music. He composed two musicals that have been produced locally and in November 1999 he starred in a short film called Killing Time, for which he also wrote the original score.

Bryan also loves sports. He coached volleyball, winning all honours in local competitions, and also coached the Men's National Team and was Technical Director of the Malta Volleyball Marathon for seven years. He is also an avid England and Liverpool FC supporter.

Bryan was part of the 80's TV popular satire Ahn’Ahna jew M'ahniex?. He produced Bugz@Net, Mini Bugz (directing the latter) and Mhux Biex Inxewwex. He co-produced and presented Ikompli on PBS and also co-produced Bernie on Super 1 TV. Together with Chrysander Agius he is presently co-producing and co-presenting another daily Children programme on Net TV - Chiyo.

In between he tries hard to dedicate some time to his wife Louise and their crazy dog...Floyd. Bryan Muscat is the script-writer, director and also the main actor in Bar Macbeth which is taking place today, tomorrow and Tuesday at MITP, Valletta.

Married to Louise for 12 years and dog Floyd.

n What would you like to be doing in 10 years’ time?

Reading more and travelling more.

Enjoying what I do in my everyday life.

n What is your favourite occupation?

Full time actor.

n What is your greatest fear?

Having a cockroach in my car.

n What is it that you most value in your friends?

Honesty.

n How would you like to die?

Peacefully.

n What is your greatest extravagance?

My personal sound studio.

n What is your greatest regret?

Not signing a musical-contract 18 years ago.

n What is your most treasured possession?

Not exactly a possession but Louise, my wife.

n Which talent would you most like to have apart from the ones you already have?

Painting (not the house obviously…)

n What do you regard as the lowest depth of misery?

Loneliness.

Malta… then Britain.

I’m energetic.

Batman and Robin (Oh.. you mean they’re not real???!!!)
