The Sportsfans Diner, located on the third floor level at Malta International Airport, is the latest addition to the variety of outlets and catering establishments at MIA.

As the name implies, the Sportsfans Diner has a different concept from the other outlets, in that it is equipped to also cater for sports enthusiasts.

The new diner is also privileged to have acquired the franchise of the renowned Italian pasta manufacturers Barilla for its pasta area.

To mark the introduction of this franchise, a number of guests were invited to a pizza and pasta evening with an Italian theme. Barilla chefs, who came to Malta especially for the occasion, served a variety of speciality pasta dishes, and the Italian musical group I Figli di un Re Minore, brought over from Italy, entertained the guests throughout the evening. The Istituto Italiano di Cultura was instrumental in establishing contact with this group.

The Sportsfans Diner offers a varied menu based on Barilla pasta and cooked in the presence of patrons in a matter of minutes. For pizza lovers, the selection is equally varied, as is the rest of the menu, which includes mouthwatering burgers as well as special grills that vary from salmon steak to chicken breast.

All this is served in a cosy atmosphere in a unique airport ambience with full view of aircraft activity overlooking the main apron and runway, or following one’s favourite sport on one of the five plasma screens available. Sportfans Diner is also popular for a Saturday afternoon football match from different European leagues to the accompaniment of delicious snacks and a pint of cold draught beer.

Moreover, adjoining the diner is a new play area for children aged between 18 months and 10 years that ensures parents can truly relax and enjoy their meal while their children are playing in a fun but safe area under the supervision of a child-minder. A promotion is currently taking place that includes a free gift for all children using the play area over the weekend.

The play area and the restaurant, operated by Papillon Caterers, are also a perfect combination for organising a children’s party and both are being offered at advantageous price-packages for all occasions.
