Steffi always remembers those SMSs such as when her boyfriend first invited her to one of his exclusive parties, or when he told her that he loved her for the very first time. However, all those special messages are now long lost – forever – as she had to delete them to retain that necessary inbox space on her mobile. She has always wondered why there is no system that could save these SMSs. "They could be inserted into one's diary to return to them in those special moments," she used to say to herself.

That is at least one scenario that subscribers to Malta's latest SMS on-line storage service, now known as Safetext, never have to face again. Mobile Ventures Ltd, an enterprising Malta-based mobile services company, has just launched www.safetext.com.mt – which offers subscribers the opportunity to forward their SMSs to a secure number and have them saved on-line, thus freeing up valuable space on their mobile phone inbox.

One can easily save a message with Safetext by forwarding any SMS to 50612069. The service is available to both Go Mobile and Vodafone Malta customers. Within a minute, subscribers can then register or log on to www.safetext.com.mt to view, edit, delete and even share their saved SMSs from a secure on-line account. Each SMS costs 5c.

The Safetext.com.mt system is highly secure, with an encryption programme and double-backup facilities running to ensure subscribers' messages are kept safe and protected forever. Anyone who wants to try it out, can simply log onto www.safetext.com.mt and follow the simple instructions, or send an SMS to 5061 2069.

The service has proved extremely popular during its testing phase in recent weeks, especially among young people aged between nine and 90 who never have to lose or delete another SMS again. Even Steffi's smiling again.
