Approximately 400 German cyclists have made a one-day stop-over in Malta, as part of a cycling cruise organised by Radlkreuzfahrt, a Germany cycling club.

The cruise, on the MS Paloma, which received full media coverage by Bayerischer Rundfunk Germany, a TV and radio station based in Bavaria, included stopovers in Croatia, Albania, Greece, Syracuse and Calabria in Italy, and now Malta.

The cyclists’ journey began on 30 September and ended on 11 October. The cyclists were welcomed on their arrival in Malta by Dominic Micallef and Shirley Psaila, on behalf of the Malta Tourism Authority.

The contingent then took off on a panoramic and interestingly challenging 60km ride across Malta, which included a rest stop under the canopy of Buskett, with refreshments provided by the MTA.

The cyclists were escorted by the police and an ambulance from the Malta Red Cross.

The event was coordinated locally by FTI Services Malta Ltd and travel arrangements were organised through FTI Frosch Touristik GMBH Germany.
