MLP Leader visits Gharghur

Malta Independent Tuesday, 6 March 2007, 00:00 Last update: about 12 years ago

Labour councillors in Gharghur are promising that in the next three years, they will be pushing the council to work on a programme to resurface roads in the locality, invest in a public library and promote reading, and plant more trees and flowers, Malta Labour Party leader Alfred Sant said yesterday.

In their manifesto, the councillors are saying they will work to create a better environment in the locality. Apart from resurfacing roads falling under the council’s responsibility, the Labour councillors will exert pressure on the central government to surface the other roads.

The PN-led council had promised to install decorative tiles along alleys but this had not materialised, Dr Sant said. The Labour councillors are pledging to improve cleanliness services too.

He added that promised projects to restore the Victoria Lines and the Semaforu Tower had not materialised.
