A Labour Party candidate for Saturday’s local council elections has filed a judicial protest against Media.Link Communications over a news item broadcast on NET TV on 21 February.

In the protest he filed yesterday, Jason Busuttil said he forms part of a group known as ta’ Ciccio, which participates in carnival competitions.

Mr Busuttil said that in the news item in question, he was mentioned as being one of those responsible for the incidents that are alleged to have taken place during the counting of votes for one of the carnival competitions.

This news item, he said, was prejudicial against him, particularly since it coincided with the local council elections campaign, of which he actively forms a part.

By way of the judicial protest, Mr Busuttil is requesting the PN media company to broadcast a clarification of the news item and he is holding them legally responsible.

The protest was filed against Media.Link Communications editor Louiselle Vassallo and journalist Keith Micallef.

Dr Jose Herrera and Dr Veronique Dalli signed the writ.
