Heritage Malta has just inaugurated an exhibition on Good Friday statuary costumes in Malta and Spain at the Inquisitor’s Palace, Vittoriosa. The exhibition, entitled Ecce Mater Tua, Ecce Filius Tuus has been put up in collaboration with the Spanish Maltese Cultural Centre.

The exhibition compares and contrasts the use of costume in Good Friday rituals in Malta and Spain particularly that used to dress images taken out in procession. On display are a collection of photographic images, artefacts and audio-visual material related to this theme. The exhibition also includes a number of unique artefacts from private collections such as historic paintings. Statuary from the national collection is also on exhibit.

The Inquisitor’s Palace is open Monday to Sunday, from 9am till 5pm. The exhibition is open until 15 April.
