A man was yesterday charged with circulating counterfeit money.

Paul Lughermo, 51, from Santa Venera, pleaded not guilty to circulating the counterfeit cash and committing a crime during the operative period of a suspended jail term. He also pleaded not guilty to relapsing.

Magistrate Consuelo Scerri Herrera turned down a request for bail and he was remanded in custody.

Police Inspector Joseph Cordina prosecuted while Dr Katia Mercieca represented the accused.
