Police Commissioner John Rizzo yesterday filed his second libel suit in a week against MaltaToday editor Saviour Balzan and columnist Michael Falzon.

Earlier this week, Mr Rizzo filed a libel suit against Mr Balzan and Matthew Vella, as editor of the MaltaToday mid-week edition. Mr Rizzo felt libelled by the contents of an article penned by Mr Balzan over the investigations Mr Rizzo was asked to conduct by Labour deputy leader Michael Falzon about an anonymous email he had received.

In the libel suit filed yesterday, Mr Rizzo claimed that an article penned by Mr Falzon in last Sunday’s newspaper was libellous. The article, entitled Policing one’s enemies, Mr Rizzo said, contained defamatory allegations aimed at tarnishing his reputation.

Dr Joseph Giglio signed the writ.
