ADT Officials’ termination of employment confirmed

Malta Independent Thursday, 28 June 2007, 00:00 Last update: about 18 years ago

During a meeting held on Tuesday, the ADT Board reconfirmed the termination of employment of two officials involved in a case of bribery related to driving tests, the Ministry for Urban Development and Roads said yesterday.

The decision, which had been taken by the ADT Board in February, had been suspended after the legal representatives of the two officials concerned had asked for a postponement of the decision until their request for the revocation of perpetual interdiction would be decided upon.

Tuesday’s decision was taken after the Ministry for Justice and Home Affairs informed the ADT that it had turned down their request.

This was the first opportunity the board had to discuss this issue since it had only been reconstituted last week.

The Urban Development and Roads Ministry yesterday denied reports that appeared in various sections of the media which claimed that pressure had been exerted on ADT officials so that these employees are not laid off.

The ministry said that the resignation of the Executive Head of the Transport Authority had noting to do with this case.
