A Gharghur man was arraigned on Sunday, charged with being in possession of cocaine.

Before Magistrate Anthony Vella, Richard Attard, 54, pleaded not guilty to being in possession of the drugs on Saturday and during the previous weeks.

The drugs were found in a state that denoted they were not for his exclusive use. He was denied bail and remanded in custody.

Police inspector Norbert Ciappara prosecuted. Dr Jose Herrera appeared for the accused.
