Graffitti Calls for respect of human dignity

Malta Independent Tuesday, 17 July 2007, 00:00 Last update: about 18 years ago

The Labour Party should issue a statement disassociating itself from populist and prejudiced terms against asylum seekers as have been expressed recently, Moviment Graffitti said.

It urged members of Parliament to endorse full respect for human dignity irrespective of race, skin colour, sex or religion as well as to disassociate themselves from the speech in Parliament by MP Joe Sammut with regard to asylum seekers.

It should be noted that a number of voluntary organisations have expressed concern regarding the locality of the Open Centre at Marsa, since the industrialised locality is isolated, not well-illuminated at night and has long been associated with a number of social problems and illicit activities such as prostitution.
