Park of Friendship, in collaboration with the Marsascala local council, will be organising a live concert this evening in its parking space.

The concert will include several medleys by popular artistes such as Roy Orbison, Supertramp and Tina Turner by Mro Joe Brown and his band who will join forces with local singers Olivia Lewis, Glenn Vella, Claudia Faniello, Kevin Borg, Tiziana Calleja and Neville Refalo, as well as special guest J Anvil.

The concert is part of the week-long festivities that the Marsascala local council organises annually during the last weeks of August.

During a press conference held yesterday, Marsascala mayor Mario Calleja said the council, particularly councillor Josette Marsh, has been preparing for this event for four months with the aim to collect funds to buy wheelchairs for Park of Friendship.

Business Development Manager Bradley Dingli thanked the local council for supporting Park of Friendship.

Currently it is providing free services for over 1,200 people with disabilities at a yearly running cost of Lm400,000 (EUR931,749). He encouraged people to visit Park of Friendship and see for themselves how money collected is being spent.

Mr Dingli thanked the over 120 volunteers who help out regularly at Park of Friendship. He also thanked all those who will be setting up the stage before the concert, dismantling it and cleaning up afterwards.

Mro Brown said his band will be in full force and will present a repertoire that will surely get the audience dancing and singing along.
