MUBE And MIM joint initiatives offer more opportunity to industry

Malta Independent Friday, 31 August 2007, 00:00 Last update: about 11 years ago

The Malta Institute of Management and the Malta Union of Bank Employees have agreed to issue training vouchers for the members within the industry, providing MUBE members with access to established training programmes for their professional development.

Both MIM and MUBE have stated that they totally endorse the government’s vision of working to make the financial services sector represent 25 per cent of the gross domestic product.

Apart from the existing training and educational programmes that already exist, this collaboration gives rise to other new programmes in areas that Malta has to date not benefited from. If one utilises all the resources and the initiatives Malta is taking in an efficient manner, Malta can easily reap the benefits of its geopolitical location and its open multi-culture, the two bodies said. In this regard, the MIM and the MUBE have the intention of holding a regional seminar on Islamic banking in Malta.

Such a seminar should give insights on the development of Islamic banking in the world and put the subject into a Maltese context. The main speaker will be Brian Kertell, who is very well known in the area of Islamic Banking.
