Union Calls for value for money in tourism industry

Malta Independent Friday, 31 August 2007, 00:00 Last update: about 11 years ago

The Hotels, Catering and Beverages section of the Union Haddiema Maghqudin urged tourism operators to offer value for money for their products and services.

It was referring to investigations by the National Euro Changeover Committee, which had investigated 75 establishments for unjustified price increases. But only five needed to be further investigated and they were all food and beverage establishments.

The section noted with satisfaction that one of the establishments brought down its prices again following the intervention of the NECC.

The section said that over the past months, there had been a common collective effort, which included UHM participation, to continue improving upon the current positive trend in the tourism sector.
