Two Ethiopian men, residing in the open centres, were yesterday conditionally discharged for one year after they both pleaded guilty to trying to leave Malta without a passport.
Haile Mariam Tasew, 56, residing at the Marsa open centre and 27-year-old Wubshet Ararsa Demesa, who resides at the Sliem tent centre in Hal Far, pleaded guilty, before presiding magistrate Jacqueline Padovani, to trying to leave Malta on Thursday and before without a passport.
Following their guilty plea, magistrate Padovani conditionally discharged both men for the period of one year.
Police inspector Edel Camilleri prosecuted while Dr Beppe Fenech Adami appeared for the two men.
