60 Second Interview - Emily Jones

Emily Jones was born in England and came to Malta when she was six years old. She was educated at St Martins' College, followed by Junior College. She is presently studying at the University of Malta. She has appeared in several local productions. Her most recent role was that of Maria in West Side Story for Drama Troupe at the Manoel Theatre and before that she played the part of Gertrude in Masquerade's Seussical. She has been training vocally with Gillian Zammit for several years. She also performs at local weddings and as a vocalist for Maltese hip-hop crew Sixth Simphoni. Her next role is that of Shelby in Steel Magnolias which the MADC are putting on at the Manoel Theatre on 12, 13 and 14 October.

How old are you? Star sign and date of birth?

17 years old. Capricorn, 27 December 1989.

What would you like to be doing in 10 years' time?

Playing Christine in Phantom of the Opera, living in an apartment in Covent Garden or working as a journalist for Cosmopolitan.

What is your idea of perfect happiness?

Love, rain and chocolate.

What is your favourite occupation?

Performing definitely. Singing and acting both top the list, followed closely by reading, writing and watching a good film.

Significant other?

Free as air. Tall, dark and handsome please form an orderly queue!

What is your greatest fear?

Unrequited love; dying lonely.

What is it that you most value in your friends?

Being considerate.

How would you like to die?

I wouldn't.

What is your greatest extravagance?

Shoes!! Definitely shoes. Also watching too many episodes of Sex and the City, over and over again!

What is your greatest regret?

I don't really think I have any regrets. I believe in making mistakes and learning from them though... and I make plenty of those!

What is your most treasured possession?

A gold chain with my name on it. Very much like Carrie's in Sex and the City.

Which talent would you most like to have apart from the ones you already have?

I'd love to be able to draw.

What do you regard as the lowest depth of misery?

Allowing bitterness and jealousy to get in the way of things, and not being able to do the things you love most.

Where would you like to live?

New York, London, Malta.

What is your most marked characteristic?

People often mention my long eyelashes.

Who are your heroes/heroines in real life?

Andrea Dworkin, Virginia Woolf, Che Guevara. Mum and Dad too.

What is it that you most dislike?

Racism and prejudice, rude waiters and shop assistants, littering, ignorance.

What is your motto?

"All's fair in love and war"
