60 Second Interview - Mik Pisani

Malta Independent Sunday, 27 January 2008, 00:00 Last update: about 11 years ago

The name’s Mik and he says that “acting is his game and fame is the aim”. He’s been at it since he was seven having started out with Stagecoach Theatre Arts, he then moved onto the Mikelang Drama Centre and now he’s moving out of the country. He has done the usual children musicals with the above-mentioned schools but nothing as serious as Mercury Fur. As he puts it: his theatrical virginity will be taken by Unifaun theatre.

Professionally Mik’s intention was to study International Relations at university, but he’s been given an opportunity to work abroad. So, if all goes well he won’t be back for quite some time.

He lives in Valletta and moving there four years ago, he comments, was probably one of the best things his family did. Things haven’t been so easy since the creation of Google; the amount of times he’s stepped out of the city, other than for school and Paceville, can be counted on one hand.

He claims to be an alcoholic as well as a workaholic. He loves all that he does and says he will never stop doing it.

Mik will be taking part in Mercury Fur, a play by Philip Ridley. Produced by Chris Gatt it will be taking place at the MITP theatre on 1, 2, 3, 8, 9, 10 February. Booking from St James Cavalier.

Significant other? Children?

Nope.

What would you like to be doing in 10 years’ time?

Finishing off part one of my autobiography.

What is your idea of perfect happiness?

Laughter.

What is your favourite occupation?

Other than dreaming up my next-to-fail plan of life, I enjoy boasting of Malta’s history, my real occupation since I’m a part-time guide at a private museum and I’m also a student.

What is your greatest fear?

That one day I will wake up to an empty world.

What is it that you most value in your friends?

Honesty and a sense of humour.

How would you like to die?

On stage, in front of an audience. A bit like Molière.

What is your greatest extravagance?

Honestly, I think theatre. I spend more on tickets per year than I do on Christmas presents.

What is your greatest regret?

Giving up piano playing at Grade 4.

What is your most treasured possession?

My intellect? Only joking... at the moment it’s probably my airline ticket off The Rock.

Which talent would you most like to have apart from the ones you already have?

Sing. Oh, and juggle more than two balls.

What do you regard as the lowest depth of misery?

Working with Chris Gatt. (That’s a joke by the way)

Where would you like to live?

France – will be moving there after Mercury Fur.

What is your most marked

characteristic?

My smile. And my cool and relaxed approach towards anything.

Who are your heroes/

heroines in real life?

Mia mamma.

What is it that you most dislike?

Hypocrisy and narrow-mindedness.
