Education Minister Louis Galea said that after losing the argument for its reception class proposal, the Labour Party launched a personal attack against him on Sunday. Dr Galea added that he yesterday filed a writ for libel against MLP leader Alfred Sant.

He said that at the party’s mass meeting on Sunday, Dr Sant confirmed that if elected to government the MLP would add another year, the reception class, for five-year-old children. This would mean making these children repeat a year, Dr Galea said. This had not been the first time Labour had launched personal attacks against him, he added.

He had taken them to court every time and the courts had always ruled against them, he said.
