Man Says tribunal denied him fair hearing

Malta Independent Wednesday, 21 May 2008, 00:00 Last update: about 12 years ago

A man who claims he was unjustly sacked by the St John’s Co-Cathedral Foundation said the Industrial Tribunal’s abstention from hearing his case was breaching his fundamental human rights.

Louis Cristiano, 68, claimed that on 26 November 2007, the judge of the tribunal abstained from continuing hearing the case, which was transferred to another judge on 1 April who sent it back to the first judge. On 7 April, the judge declared that he would not preside over the case. Mr Cristiano held the Industrial Tribunal Secretary and the Justice and Interior Affairs Minister responsible for damages caused to him.

The writ was signed by Dr Owen Bonnici.
