Ada Bligaard Søby was born in Denmark in 1975. She studied film at the School Of Visual Arts in New York City and photography at Fatamorgana in Copenhagen. She received the Danish State Art Funds two-year working grant for young artists in 2000. Ada worked as an assistant to photographers Terry Richardson and François Halard in New York City. She was selected for the 2004 Hyeres Festival International de Mode et de Photographie.

Her documentary film American Losers with music by Devendra Banhart was in competition at the Nordic Panorama Film Festival, CPH:DOX and Cinequest Film Festival 2006 and is distributed by Firsthandfilms, Zurich. Visit: www.myspace.com/americanlosers.

Her 2007 short fiction Meet me in Berlin starring Norman Reedus and edited by François Gedigier was shown on Channel 13/WNET Reel shorts programme last May and was recently selected for competition at the 23rd International Odense film festival, Denmark.

What would you like to be doing in 10 years’ time?

Surprise myself.

What is your idea of perfect happiness?

Malta in the summer.

What is your favourite occupation?

Going in a car with people I don’t know to a place I don’t know.

There are Oh so many.

What is your greatest fear?

To wake up and be all serious.

What is it that you most value in your friends?

Self irony and curiosity.

How would you like to die?

Falling asleep at the movies.

What is your greatest

extravagance?

My collection of early 18th century forks.

What is your greatest regret?

The bullshit I spoke three days ago.

What is your most treasured possession?

My health. And my iPod. Maybe these might be in conflict in the future?

Which talent would you most like to have apart from the ones you already have?

To know when to shut up.

What do you regard as the lowest depth of misery?

When the film comes back with nothing on it.

Where would you like to live?

Sweden. No, that’s a joke. Nashville or Singapore.

What is your most marked characteristic?

My many mistakes.

Who are your heroes/heroines in real life?

Kimberle and Kevin from my film American Losers.

What is it that you most dislike?

Rude children.

Where there is a will, I want to be in it.
