Sony Ericsson’s Indestructible JCB ToughPhone

Malta Independent Sunday, 27 July 2008, 00:00 Last update: about 10 years ago

Practically indestructible, the JCB ToughPhone has been designed to play rough. It is the only mobile phone with a three-year warranty and an IP54 rating. Whether you are a construction worker, an extreme sportsperson or demand tools from a reliable supplier that can take a lot of punishment, this is the phone for you.

SonyEricsson have reached an exclusive agreement with JCB for the branding of the phone in an unmistakable yellow and black casing with the JCB logo and a unique ringtone. This model can be used as a two-way radio for individuals or groups and has an extra loud ringer on two speakers that can be heard even in noisy environments.

In tests conducted on this model, it has been dropped from a height of about four metres, thrown in a concrete mixer, driven over and subjected to powerful jets of water (see http://www.jcbphone.co.uk/).

The JCB ToughPhone is a triband mobile phone boasting Bluetooth, USB and WAP browser connectivity. The 65K colour screen measures 128 x 160 pixels. It comes with a standard belt clip and the battery is good for up to 200 hours of standby and 240 minutes of talk time.
