Gasco Energy, the new company that is setting up a fully certified LPG storage and bottling complex in Benghajsa, and Liquigas Malta, which will be responsible for distribution and marketing, have announced the appointment of their senior management team.

Roberto Capelluto will occupy the position of chief executive officer, while Paul Agius Delicata will be chief operations officer. David Lawrence will be the sales and marketing manager of Liquigas Malta.

Mr Capelluto, 54, holds an Economics degree from the University of Louvain in Belgium and has a financial background, ranging from audit activities with Arthur Andersen, to management control and financial responsibilities. After various experiences in France, Belgium and several other countries, he joined the Italian Liquigas Group in 1992 and subsequently occupied a variety of financial, control and administration positions.

Mr Capelluto has been involved in many mergers and acquisitions, which has made Liquigas the leader in the Italian LPG market. Liquigas Italy has a turnover of 650 million euros and employs more than 1,200 staff.

He is currently deputy general manager and director in several affiliated companies in Italy and abroad. Mr Capelluto’s activities also cover the relationships with the National LPG Association, the Italian Authority of Gas and Electricity and the European LPG Lobbying Group in Brussels.

Mr Agius Delicata, 44, was the top technical executive at Multigas Ltd, which he joined 23 years ago. He holds an MSc. in Cryogenics from Southampton University and has substantial experience in the production and distribution of industrial and medicinal gases.

Mr Agius Delicata played a key role in the development of the new Multigas facility at Kirkop, which included the purchase and installation of a e7 million oxygen/nitrogen production plant supplied by Cosmodyne of USA, the development of cylinder filling and testing facilities and also pipeline supply to ST Microelectronics. He was also responsible for the relocation of Multigas operations from the former Sta Venera site to Kirkop, which was done without any disruption to clients.

Mr Lawrence, 44, is a graduate in Economics from the University of Rome, and has been with Liquigas Italy for over five years, occupying the post of regional sales manager. He was previously Southern Italy area manager with ShellGas Italy and prior to that was area manager for Autogrill, a Benetton company.
