Health Parliamentary Secretary Joe Cassar yesterday launched a Mellieha local council activity in aid of Puttinu Cares – a concert to be held on 6 February. Dr Cassar said councils had the duty to think of the less fortunate in activities which they organise. This year the government will be announcing its national strategy on cancer, and work will start soon on a new oncology centre.

Mellieha mayor Robert Cutajar said the Mellieha council has held various activities on a national scale and it will not be the first activity to be held by the council for a philanthropic purpose.

During the Milied Melliehi activity last month, the council and local organisations had raised e5,135 which they presented to the Strina fundraiser.
