Vodafone Malta Limited has confirmed its annual sponsorship of the Print Journalism – Features category in this year’s Malta Journalism Awards, organised by the Institute of Maltese Journalists (IĠM). The category honours exceptional feature articles published in 2009, in what is one of the most competitive categories out of the 13.

Claudette Farrugia, Corporate Affairs Senior Executive at Vodafone commented on the importance of first-rate journalism that contributes to maintaining the democratic process which is sometimes taken for granted. “Recognising and highlighting the role of journalists and their outstanding work and achievements is imperative to promoting and strengthening what the country has achieved so far in the area of journalism.”

Mr Malcom J Naudi, Chairman of the Institute of Maltese Journalists said: “The Institute of Maltese Journalists thanks Vodafone for its continual support for the local journalist community, and for its understanding of the local media landscape. We have a high regard for Vodafone’s pro-active involvement in the social affairs of the country, where it leads by example.”

Each winner from the 13 categories will be awarded a cash prize of €350 and the Malta Journalism Awards trophy and certificate for their category. The winner of the special category entitled Il-Lingwa Nazzjonali fil-Ġurnaliżmu will be presented with the Malta Journalism Award trophy for that category.
