Eternal rivals Sliema McDonalds and Neptunes Emirates will be meeting in the first big match between them this season – the winter league final – this afternoon.

The two sides remain the most consistent in the local waterpolo scene and this afternoon’s clash could well be a rehearsal of what we might expect during the more important summer league, the draws of which are to be held next Thursday.

There is no doubt that today’s match will be keenly contested with the numerous fans of both sides expected to create a festive atmosphere while packing the stands at the Tal-Qroqq pool.

In the semi-finals last week, Sliema defeated Sirens 9-6 while Neptunes got the better of neighbours San Giljan 7-6.

The match start at 4.30pm and will be preceded by the Sirens Ritter Sports-San Giljan Firetech clash – a match for the third and fourth places, which commences at 3pm.
