President George Abela yesterday paid a visit to the Simonds Farsons Cisk brewery in Mrieħel, with Group Chief Executive Louis Farrugia announcing that the company will do its bit for charity by donating to the Malta Community Chest Fund some of the profits it makes on sales of Kinnie from now till the end of the year.

“Besides this initiative, a significant number of employees who work in the brewery are set to participate in the 5 December President’s Fun Run, which is part of the l-iStrina campaign,” said Mr Farrugia.

He added that construction of the new brewery is gaining momentum, and the company is set to meet the deadline earmarked for its completion, May 2012.

During the tour, President Abela was given comprehensive information about the developments undertaken by Farsons to make the Brewery, one of the most modern in the Mediterranean.

Mr Farrugia expressed appreciation for the President’s visit, which he interpreted as a sign of encouragement to the current management and a sign of appreciation of the efforts made by past leaders of the brewing industry in Malta.
