Tuesday, 5 October was an evening full of many memories for the likes of musicians Joseph Curmi, Pawlu Curmi, Mro Joseph Sammut, Charles City Gatt and Vinny Vella, when they met for dinner at the Premier in Valletta to reminisce on their careers with the new generation of musicians including George Curmi, Dominic Galea, and Vinny Vella Jr.

“It was a pleasure hosting such a great group of people who contributed, and are continuing to shape the music scene, across Malta and Gozo. This event was a great opportunity to bring the local music community together. This was also a unique event because we had father and son teams present, including Joseph Curmi and his son George Curmi as well as Simon Sammut and his father Mro Joseph Sammut, Salvu Giordmaina and his son Paul Giordmaina and Vinny Vella and Vinny Vella Jr., just to mention a few,” said Ivan Borg Ferrando, the Premier’s operations manager.

“This event gave us all a great opportunity to meet with our friends and peers! We had a great time reminiscing and hearing stories from the old days when the music scene was much tougher but in other ways more exciting. Popular musicians from the old generation such as Frank Camillieri, Joseph Curmi, Pawlu Curmi and my father Vinny Vella as well as many others shaped the local music scene and we should celebrate their achievements. This event was a great opportunity to meet these great musicians and enjoy a fantastic meal together!” said Vinny Vella Jr., organiser of this social get-together.

The Premier is determined to contribute towards the regeneration of Valletta through events such as these. Their mission to help bring back the music and culture to Valletta kicked off with the highly popular summer events, the Pjazza Live Sessions with George Curmi, Il-Puse and his band.
