Malta Independent Tuesday, 3 May 2011, 00:00 Last update: about 11 years ago

A 25-year-old man was handed a suspended sentence yesterday after he pleaded guilty to slightly injuring a policeman when he bit his finger during the Fat Boy Slim concert last Saturday.

Jason Zerafa, of Gżira, was smoking during the concert, which was held at the Malta Fairs and Conventions Centre (MFCC) in Ta’ Qali. He was approached by the police because he was smoking in an enclosed area.

In court, he was accused of resisting and threatening four police constables, disobeying their orders, refusing to give them his particulars, and smoking indoors.

Magistrate Consuelo Scerri Herrera gave him a nine-month jail term suspended for one year.

Police Inspector Kevin J. Farrugia prosecuted and lawyer Anglu Farrugia appeared for the defendant.
