A 35-year-old Gozitan man was yesterday afternoon grievously injured after being hit by pellets shot from a firearm in a field in the vicinity of the Għajnsielem cemetery.

Police revealed that the man heard a gunshot and noticed his face was covered in blood.

The Għasri man is being treated at the Gozo General Hospital.

At the time of going to print, the police were non-committal on the cause of the incident.

Police investigations are ongoing.
