Labour MP Marie Louise Coleiro Preca said the government should be ashamed at ignoring recommendations made by a board of inquiry in September last year about the employment of care workers. The recommendations were not implemented and care workers are still being employed under conditions which are not suitable and deprive them of dignity.

Instead of doing its duty with these workers, Dr Coleiro Preca said, directives are being issued without notice at Mater Dei Hospital relating to care workers employed in the operations theatres, depriving them of more conditions of work.
