AD questions silence of Maltese MEPs on Dalligate

Malta Independent Sunday, 9 June 2013, 15:47 Last update: about 11 years ago

Alternattiva Demokratika has taken note and is satisfied that the Police Commissioner, Peter Paul Zammit, has declared that there is no evidence to accuse former health commissioner John Dalli on criminal charges.
Carmel Cacopardo, acting AD chairman added that however at this stage, on the basis of what is public knowledge it is pertinent to query all Maltese MEPs and ask them to explain their silence on the matter. They have remained silent and left other MEPs, primarily Green MEPs in the European Parliament to query the questionable operations of OLAF. In addition they have failed to support proposals to carry out an investigation into the matter by the European Parliament.
Carmel Cacopardo concluded by stating that as a result of their opting to remain silent throughout the case Maltese MEPs have abdicated their responsibilities.
