A BMW X3 caught fire in Merchants' street, Valletta at 5am this morning.

The police said that the fire also spread to a vehicle parked behind the BMW.

Four residential properties and two shops suffered damage as a result of the fire.

Members of the Civil Protection Unit were called to the scene in order to put out the fire.

No injuries were reported.
