Yesterday afternoon, members of the Civil Protection Department informed the AFM Operations centre that an Italian man was injured limits of Gnejna and required urgent medical evacuation.

An AFM Alouette III helicopter was immediately scrambled to the area in order to conduct the rescue.

The man was suffering from spinal injuries and was taken aboard the AFM Helicopter. He was subsequently transported to an awaiting ambulance at AFM’s Air wing base where he was later taken to Mater Dei Hospital for further medical attention.
