Frenchman and his daughter admit assaulting policeman

A Frenchman, 47, was condemned to a two-year jail term suspended for four years and his daughter, 20, was conditionally discharged for two years after admitting

in causing a disturbance and assaulting a policeman who was heavily beaten up.

Jean Louis Genolet and his daughter Morgane Genolet admitted in causing greviously bodily harm to a Police Constable after he intervened in a fight with three British nationals.

The man admitted in breaking the nose of a Policeman, and together with his daughter admitted of assaultin the Policeman, slightly injuring two English women and a man, disturbing peace, having been drunk and the man admitted that he was not suitably dressed.

The incident happened at the Mellieha Bay hotel around 1.30 a.m. early Monday morning.  The policeman who intervened suffered a fractured nose from a head-butt by the Frenchman.

Both accused were arraigned under arrest and admitted to causing a disturbance, assaulting a policeman and indecent exposure while drunk. Inspector Sandra Zammit headed prosecution in front of Magistrate Giovanni Griscti.
