Energy Minister Konrad Mizzi said that he does not get involved in official communications involving his wife, meaning that he stays out of issues which involve his wife’s work.

Mr Mizzi was replying to questions made by this portal if he agrees that it is unfair that his wife Sai was not alerted on the requests made by the media, including a request made by The Malta Independent, who sent a freedom of information request but which was turned down, to reveal the amount of her trade envoy salary.

He said that he was keeping three steps away since the post of his wife does not fall under his remit and involves other ministries.

Interviewed in China by ‘selected Maltese media’, Ms Mizzi said that it is untrue she earns 13,000 euros a month (she told the media she only earns just over 3,000 euros) and that she was never requested to reveal her salary since she would have done so if she had been asked.
