A United Airlines Boeing 777 made an emergency landing on a World War II unused runway on an atoll in the Hawaii.

The runway is that on Midway Island which is famous for the epic battle between the Americans and the Japanese.

The plane had taken off from Honolulu on its way to Guam when dense fumes invaded the cabin and the plane had to make a sudden landing.

Two hours later another plane landed and took the passengers to Honolulu.
