In an attempt to help raise funds for Fondazzjoni Qalb it-Tfal, Radiographer Miguel Pace and Mechanical Engineer Michael Fenech are travelling through Europe in a 1971 Austin J4 Van. Fondazzjoni Qalb it-Tfal supports the NPICU – the intensive care unit for babies and young children.

Travelling at a maximum speed of 80km/hour, the duo will be covering a total of approximately 10,000km. Yesterday night they reached Frederikshavn in Denmark, and today they will be travelling all the way to Oslo. After Oslo, both will travel to the island of Haramsoy, where a fundraising event will be held; before making their way back to Malta.

Last December, Mr Pace’s son Giuliano, at just 10-days old, was diagnosed with bacterial meningitis and was admitted to the NPICU. During the time spent at the NPICU, Mr Pace got to know about the charity foundation Qalb it-tfal, and decided he wanted to contribute in some way. Some years back, Mr Pace had discussed the idea of travelling to Norway with Michael Fenech, however the idea was shelved until this year.

The main target is to raise €11,000 needed to purchase a HeRO Duet Heart Analyser for the NPICU.

A donation of €2.33 can be made by sending an SMS to 50617503.
