Nationalist Party deputy leader Beppe Fenech Adami this evening said that it is incredible how prayers and support from others helps people in the same situation he is in get through such difficult times, adding that he looks forward to the day he fully recovers.

He expressed his solidarity with those who are going through the same ordeal as him.

He was giving a brief account of what he has been through in the last few weeks in his battle against cancer during a discussion held at the Granaries as part of the 50th Independence Day celebrations organised by the Nationalist Party. It was his first public appearance since he was diagnosed with cancer earlier this year.

He thanked all those who are supporting him through his plight, thanking his wife and the population at large.

Dr Fenech Adami said that it is vital one approaches such situations serenely and with determination. He said that when he is better he will continue to dedicate all his energy to the country.

He also explained that seven weeks after learning about his condition, he no longer questions why it is him who was diagnosed with cancer "when there are so many people out there going through worse situations then him".

Dr Fenech Adami came back from London on Sunday after he completed his 25 therapeutic sessions. He is expected to return to London next month to undergo further treatment.
