The recovery of infected bodies from the sea is one of the biggest Ebola risks to Malta, PN spokesperson for health Claudio Grech said today.
Mr Grech said the government and Opposition are working together in order to ensure that the threat of the Ebola epidemic reaching Malta is mitigated.
He said the government has taken the Opposition’s suggestions on board, particularly when it comes to the way in which bodies are recovered from the sea.
He said the government is working on ensuring that the Armed Forces of Malta (AFM) and other workers on the front line are provided with the necessary training and equipment.
“We will continue to support the government’s efforts and offer our own suggestions,” he said.
He agreed with the government’s assessment that the possibility of Ebola reaching Malta is remote due to the short incubation period.
