A statement by the Nationalist Party welcomed the giovernment's decision to close the hunting season but said this was made imperative by previous bad decisions by the government. Among the possible causes, PN mentioned the wholescale transfers within ALE and the extension of hunting beyond 3pm. Illegal hunting is illegal and no governmnent can tolerate that. In 2007, the PN government had called off hunting after a massacre of birds.
