Government not committed to renewable energy – PN

Malta Independent Tuesday, 23 September 2014, 19:15 Last update: about 11 years ago

The government is frequently speaking about climate change but it is not doing anything to mitigate the issues that this phenomenon is creating, the Nationalist Party’s spokesman on energy George Pullicino said.

The government’s national renewable energy plan is still to be published. The previous PN administration had compiled it and reached an agreement about it with the European Union, but it needed to be changed because of the government’s decision on a plant that will generate “exaggerated levels of energy” which will reduce the need to generate clean energy.

In June 2013, Minister Konrad Mizzi had said that the report would be published in September 2013, but a year has passed and the report is still under wraps.
