Beach cleanup held in Pretty Bay, Birzebbuga ; government to put forward noise pollution bill

A beach cleanup was held in Pretty Bay in Birzebbuga this morning, as part of the European Week for Waste Reduction.

Environment Minister Leo Brincat, while lauding the initiative, said that the surroundings around the bay should be well protected, allowing for a clean environment for residents and visitors of the area.  He said, that in the upcoming weeks, the government will be putting forward a bill aimed at reducing noise pollutions, and a public consultation will be launched, aiming at coming up with policies protecting citizen's health.

The beach cleanup was organized by Europe Direct Central Region in collaboration with the representatives of the European Commission in Malta, Birzebbuga's local council, Nature trust and scout groups.
