Home Affairs Minister denies police told they can wear balaclavas

The new minister for Home Affairs, Carmelo Abela, denied reports that the Rapid Intervention Unit members have been authorised to wear a balaclava during their operations.

The minister was replying to a Jason Azzopardi (PN) question which claimed that over the past fortnight, RIU members were told they can wear a balaclava on their operations but they have to buy the balaclava themselves
