Court rejects Floriana FC request to drop garnishee order filed by ex club president Johann Said

The First Hall of the Civil Court, presided over by Madam Justice Anna Felice, today turned down a request made by Floriana FC asking to drop a garnishee order instituted by former club president Johann Said.

The club had also asked the court to fine Mr Said the amount of €1,164.69 and not more than €6,988.12, which would go towards the club, since “Mr Said was acting maliciously when he filed a garnishee order against the club”. The court also turned down this request.

On his part, Mr Said argued that the club’s request should be rejected by the court since his right to protect his financial interests as a creditor should not be denied.

The club had filed a protest against Mr Said in the past – signed by lawyers Michael and Rebekah Tanti-Dougall – arguing that Mr Said’s actions are to say the least abusive, since, as a president of the club, he should have been interested in safeguarding the interests of the club, as its supporters would have expected to happen.

The club told the court that they strongly disagree with the amount Mr Said is claiming the club owes him.
