James Agius, 26 of Floriana, today pleaded not guilty to stealing jewellery from Doris Vella, injuring her, holding her against her will and threatening her while at her Valletta home in November 2013. He was also charged with having received stolen goods. The victim is 76 years old.

The co-accused – who cannot be mentioned by court order due to the fact that he is a minor – had confirmed with police that Agius had indeed committed the above-mentioned crimes.

Agius - a supermarket shelf stacker - was granted bail against a deposit of €2,000 and a personal guarantee of €10,000.

Police Inspector Carlos Cordina prosecuted while Veronique Dalli appeared for the accused.
