The Union Haddiema Maghqudin has written to the management of De La Rue company complaining that the workers had been misguided.

In a statement, the UHM said workers were told to sign a document called “objectives and performance evaluation” that included changes to their job description.

The union said the documents should be returned to the workers who signed them. The UHM has also complained about the working conditions at the workplace, saying there is excessive heat.

The UHM called on the General Workers Union to work to safeguard the workers’ interests. The UHM said that although it is not recognised as the union representing De La Rue workers, it will keep on fighting got their rights.

The Malta Independent in June reported that De La Rue’s workers were ‘subtly threatened’ not to join the UHM.

In a statement, De La Rue Group said that the company is one of the largest employers in Malta and has one of the best-paid and most progressive workforces.

“It is disappointed to be caught up in the ongoing dispute between UHM and GWU over who represents the workforce,” the company said.
